Legislature's GIS Office
The main function of the GIS Office is to provide the Legislature with automated means to redraw legislative districts once every 10 years, in conjunction with the federal census. In this capacity, the legislature's GIS Office:
- Serves as a liaison with the U. S. Bureau of the Census for the receipt of census data for the redistricting of legislative districts;
- Pursuant to
KRS 7.550 is charged with maintaining & continuously updating a computerized map of census geography & election precinct boundaries;
- Maintains a library of spatial databases that can be integrated with other sources of information to produce maps and reports for legislative committees & members.
